A Collaborative Skyline

On one of many trips to nyc, I stayed up late with my best friend isobel and her boyfriend to draw a multi-layed skyline with ridiculous detail.

All-Staff Meeting: My Phone Hates Me

It was giving me the side-eye, the shank-eye, the "BISH PLEASE!" look. I completely understood.

Heads In A Line: My Specialty

If I have a specialty, a "thing" if you will, it's drawing ambiguous amorphous people heads. Maybe it's because that how I feel internally brain-wise. Ever morphing, changing my mind, figuring shit out. There is no fixed point. The same up and down. Different up and down.

Gator say HEEEEY!!

I'd just come back from Florida when I drew this during a small meeting. I guess the reason I drew a gator and friends is because I really like gators? and friends?

Save Me Monkey!!

I'm dangling from a monkey from a limb...Also, apparently, ink pads are needed.

Bone Fish

Just some doodles on yet another strategic plan grid. I guess It's my way of inserting my own random goals of having fish that are made of bones and breath underwater as part of a larger plan somehow. Does that make sense? No it does not.

Sci-Fly

For some weird reason my mom had us watch the original Fly movie from 1958 when we were young (I saw the 1986 remake of it not too long after that, which was more gross than disturbing, but still pretty good).  It really freaked me out and I probably gave a suspicious side-eye to any houseflies I saw directly after watching the movie. Knowing me, I probably tried to save various flies too (they might have little man heads on them!!) as I used to save hornets and wasps from the chlorine-filled pool they always seemed to fly into.
In any case, I was doodling during a meeting or a phone call at work and up popped the fly in my mind. I made him in my usual freaky side-portrait view style.

Strategic Plan Squares

During multiple meetings and endless droning on about goals and objectives and etc. etc. etc. I drew in the lines/squares what I could while we were all meeting. I have the cheerful finger gun guy, the lil stick guy holding up the sides of the square, the launching robot, and of course, who could forget that short-lived 80s video game spin off pac-snake?

Memo/Agenda Skyline

This is from last week, but I've actually been busy at work/unable to sneakily scan things until now.
I'm working on conceptualizing an infographic for a project and have been obsessed with skylines (I'll post up an insanely detailed skyline I did with some friends later on). So I draw them everywhere on everything and I really love them. This one I was just trying to amuse myself during a meeting, so the buildings are all cute. The middle guy with the really big smile is the one who started it all off. He seems pretty happy, maybe that's how I would be if I got to be outside all day and be part of the city.

Pre-Thanksgiving Meeting-Part 2

Punctuation was all on my mind today, started off drawing the two most exciting punctuation marks (the question mark and the exclamation point) and then moved on to the useful but less exciting combos of dots and commas.
I found out later that someone else in the meeting was also drawing question marks. A general feeling of questioning the universe or easy doodlin'?
 

Pre-Thanksgiving Meeting-Part 1

I haven't drawn on my hands in so long in a meeting, I almost forgot I could do it. My canvas that is always with me as long as I have a ballpoint pen (other stuff just doesn't work as well).
I scanned my wrist and felt like a drunk person at an office party doing it. As if anyone here gets drunk and parties. So this is my sober, non party wrist doodle. I colored it in and then threw a quick watercolor filter over it because close ups of scanned body parts really aren't all that attractive.

Making Bad Things Cute

There's probably a good government job in that. Making really scary things cute so that people are a little less on edge. Well, I do that in my head all of the time, like a skin I put over the world so that things have giant eyes and big smiles and would never hurt you. At work, in our famous all-staff meetings in the basement we learned that someone had found a couple of bed bugs in the building. After wanting to hurl, I quickly sketched out the bed bugs I could mentally handle co-existing with.

Weird Grip on the Pen/Pencil

It's kind of like a chopstick grip but with one chopstick. My finger over my thumb and the rest of the fingers tucked away, stabilizing the writing instrument behind the index and thumb. It sort of astonishes me that I am even able to write like this. When I write with my right hand it is more traditional of a tip-of-the-pen grip between fingers and thumb.
I'm not just doing extreme navel gazing here, I'm thumb gazing really.
Also, some random post-it doodles I did who knows when.

So my amazing friend Jeffers and I went to a drag show at Jacques Cabaret in Boston.
It was nasty and awesome. Not sure I'll be running back, but I'm glad I went.
I did this little sketch of "Misery" at Fritz after the show.

Well I hope it's not happy.  Probably the people who sent him are, but he's the one who has to explode...and on a birthday party of all things. **shakes head**

Napkin Sketchin'

This is my first mobile post so bear with me if it looks off. My good friend D is moving to Portland, ME this week and I'm really going to miss that girl. We've made Geoffrey's Cafe our bar of choice for the past year and so it's only fitting that I doodled on a napkin a scene called Geoffrey's Last Supper with K on one side and K on the other. D is illuminated by a decorative string of lights on the patio. And now off to bedzzzzz.
