This is my first mobile post so bear with me if it looks off. My good friend D is moving to Portland, ME this week and I'm really going to miss that girl. We've made Geoffrey's Cafe our bar of choice for the past year and so it's only fitting that I doodled on a napkin a scene called Geoffrey's Last Supper with K on one side and K on the other. D is illuminated by a decorative string of lights on the patio. And now off to bedzzzzz.

My Nightmare Come to Life-Compacting Shelving

When I first worked at University of Florida (also was an undergrad) I was a file clerk laboring in hand-cranked compact shelving--No safety devices to prevent someone from not seeing me and cranking away. I had a dream about it back then where my eyes bulged out of my head as someone cranked away and I was between shelves.
At a meeting this a.m. there were multiple warnings about compact shelving shorting out and the safety measures not kicking in when someone is in the shelving. They kept mentioning even more precautions to take and it got ridiculous. Then a colleague mentioned roaming killer rats and I had to make that happen. Doodle isn't super great since the head boss was kind of watching.

Bad Day for Me, Good Day for a Doodle

One of those days where I feel less than insignificant. I am an office drone, literally stamping pages of things after I process them into the office information system. I feel like I'm a sad character in a future dystopia who hasn't broken free yet, maybe I'll be the minor character who helps the hero get out, but I get disintegrated in the process, still freer than before in any case. This is all to say I didn't pay a lick of attention in the Dept. meeting we had today, but instead doodled and tried to escape a little. Yeah boy, I'm such a rebel.

Same meeting...She proceeds to write an almost completely unfollowable "flow chart" that runs horizontally the ENTIRE (yes ALL CAPS are needed here!!!) length of the room wall that is covered in white board...probably like 15 feet worth? I then of course imagined her to continue going onto the wall and around the room, this is just a quick sketch of that.

Sketchy Meetings-2 Hour Edition

The good part about long meetings is that they can turn into figure drawing sessions. Sometimes people hold the same pose for a long time and I try to draw it as best I can. The second not-so-good figure in the sketch kept changing his position, that's my excuse for the less-than drawing...
As a bonus I added an uncomfortable quote from the person leading the meeting. She probably didn't think much of it, but when we were all gathering into the room she said, "I have this urge to arrange people by color..." since there is a distinct lack of diversity where I work, I looked up at her like WTF since my boss is one of 3 african americans where I work (out of a total of say 70ish employees). She then quickly qualified it with "...of what they are wearing" SMH...seriously

Tetris Pieces are People Too!

Before I knew it was the anniversary of Tetris this year, I drew this on a napkin at a great bar  I frequent. I have always felt that (through my rampant anthropomorphism skillz) each piece had its own attitude. In particular the piece that has the three blocks with the one in the middle always seemed very neurotic to me. It can't decide where to go EVER!!!

Teeny lil Kitteh Picture

My friend at byhillary.com just had a kitten birthday (she is not a kitten, but has one...just in case there was any confusion...) and I was commissioned (haha, instant messaged) to draw up a wee icon/picture for her birthday.
After the deadline passed, I of course finally completed it. I took the original picture, outlined it heavily with a ballpoint pen, flipped the pic over and drew over the deep lines that appeared on the back of the picture, then I 'shopped it, filled it, drew a little and BAM!
Evil awesome black cat peeping behind curtain, and curious (actually more evil, but tiny kitten evil), adorable kitten out in front with the obligatory aren't-i-cute head cock to the side.

Logo for a Petsitting service

I sketched this out this morning and had the first version done by the end of the day. pretty quick turnaround for indecisive me. I'm still working on the business card and I might space these letters out more, but they are also kind of cute where they are now.
If they look familiar, they are based on a children's book hondo and fabian, and I love the fat chunky style of them, since they are sort of my style too (chunky cuteness) I pencil sketched them from looking at the drawings, then scanned, filtered, erased, painted, free transformed the living crap out of them.
