I sketched this out this morning and had the first version done by the end of the day. pretty quick turnaround for indecisive me. I'm still working on the business card and I might space these letters out more, but they are also kind of cute where they are now.
If they look familiar, they are based on a children's book hondo and fabian, and I love the fat chunky style of them, since they are sort of my style too (chunky cuteness) I pencil sketched them from looking at the drawings, then scanned, filtered, erased, painted, free transformed the living crap out of them.

So I'm helping to push along the redesign of the whole library website, along with a committee full of people, and after a while, you just start to get punchy and can't quibble over where to put the next long list of options for people to choose from anymore. Here we are debating how to list the different ways that a student or other "customer" can contact a librarian for research help. A noble endeavor.
I, of course, had to 'shop in a giant cat ball onto the homepage to lighten the mood. Had to be done.

The Interview

I won't say who or when or for what, but there is always someone interviewing for something where i work. Also, for my unemployed (laid-off) friends, they have to sit there and just go through interview after interview. At some point THAT starts to feel like your new job. Just interviewing.

Yes, I'm jumping to conclusions, but also, sadly, yes I know what I speak of when I see a months-old waggy-tailed pit bull in the hands of a rather sullen young man who has already outfitted it with a huge spikey collar and an actual chain for a leash. Back in the day I knew a rather unsavory fellow who bought a couple of pitbull puppies. As cute as they were, I knew they were headed for fighting, because with a wink and a nod he told me as much. But still, that puppy I saw this morning was adorable and I wanted to steal him away so he'd only be familiar with dogs fighting over a chew toy, not for their lives.

I still can't believe how people who make twice as much as me never understand anything ever in any meeting ever., but really I should be used to it by now with all of the years I spent making my corporate bosses look like they knew how to operate an expense report. The pic is a little big...but you couldn't see the pencil marks otherwise my darlings.
