Saturday, October 22, 1pm -3pm
The Cartoon Art Museum's Saturday Afternoon Cartooning Classes for kids
will continue once a month throughout the fall and winter. Our next
classes are scheduled for October 22nd and November 19th from 1pm-3pm,
and will be taught by local cartoonist and animator Brian Kolm.
The attendance fee for each student is $5, which covers the student's
admission to the Cartoon Art Museum and the cost of art supplies.
Students will learn a wide variety of skills throughout these classes,
from character design to storyboarding to creating their own
mini-comics. These classes are recommended for students from 6-14 years
old. Classes are filled first-come first served, advance reservations

Thursday, October 27, 7pm-9pm
From the darkest depths of the cartoon vaults comes the Cartoon Art
Museum's latest exhibition, Gross, Gruesome and Gothic. Enjoy gourmet
food courtesy of our festive sponsors. There will be spooky cookies (An
Occasional Cookie), chilling sushi (Blowfish), rib-tickling barbeque
(Memphis Minnie's), dastardly evil nibbles (Fringale), frightful fruits
and cheeses (Rainbow Grocery) and captivating liquid refreshment (IZZE).
Guests will receive bloodcurdling door prizes courtesy of Things From
Another World and the Warner Bros. film Tim Burton's The Corpse Bride,
and special prizes will be awarded to those attending in costume.
The horrifying display features over 60 original cartoons from a
spooktacular selection of artists and comics including Edward Gorey,
Charles Addams, Basil Wolverton and Charles Schulz.
Saturday, October 29, 1pm-3pm
The Cartoon Art Museum is pleased to host Dutch cartoonist Erik Kriek on
October 29 from 1pm to 3pm as part of its ongoing
Cartoonist-in-Residence program. Museum visitors will have a chance to
watch Kriek at work and chat with him about cartooning. Please visit

Wednesday, November 2, 6pm-8pm
Special Presentation featuring French Authors and Illustrators Emile
Bravo and Olivier Balez
The Cartoon Art Museum in association with the Cultural Services of the
French Embassy in San Francisco and Foto-Grafix Bookstore is proud to
host the third annual presentation of French artists.
This event is free and open to the public. Their presentation will be in
French, with English translation. Books will be available for purchase
and signing. Space is limited; please contact Summerlea Kashar at

Emile Bravo and Olivier Balez are inventive authors and illustrators who
search out interdisciplinary projects and collaboration. Bravo and
Balez’s prestigious sponsored visit to San Francisco allows the two
famed European illustrators to expose their work in the USA. Their visit
also allows fans to meet, greet and direct questions!
